Additional Learning Needs (ALN)

Additional Learning Needs at Ysgol Llys Hywel

Supporting Additional Learning Needs is at the heart of what we do here at Ysgol Llys Hywel. Our ALNCo Mrs C Thomas coordinates provision throughout the school to support children who have a wide range of additional learning needs.

All our classes support their own pupils with a range of Universal Provisions. Mrs B Hancock-Evans (Support Staff) further supports each class with the delivery of universal provision for literacy, numeracy and ChATT. Mr A Owen (Support Staff) is a qualified ELSA and delivers well-being and behaviour provisions to children within the school.

If you have any concerns about your child or you would like an informal chat, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office to arrange a mutually, convenient appointment.

ALN Reform in Wales

The Special Educational Needs (SEN) system is being replaced by the Additional Learning Needs (ALN) system. This is happening over three school years – between September 2021 and August 2024. Please refer to the image and links below to help you understand the on going changes.
